New Face Drawings in my Sketchbook

Combining realistic with a cartoon style.

Each morning this month, I’ve spent 30 minutes or so drawing faces from online photo references.

I love this practice because you only need paper, a pencil or pen, and photos from Google Images or https://www.earthsworld.com/ to draw from.

Pick a spot on the page to draw your first face and go from there. You notice I enjoy adding one additional color other than black.

Usually, red or gray.

Various face sizes make it fun too.

After trying a realistic caricature style, I like seeing if I can make those same faces more cartoony.

Sometimes, this inspires me to try to create new comic strip characters along with realistic caricatures.
