I knew the tooth in the back on the bottom right was cracked a bit.
The dentist told me to be careful and not eat hard food like nuts, but the inevitable happened last week while eating something with only a mild amount of crunch.
Fortunately, the piece that broke off was only about a quarter of the tooth, and there wasn’t any pain or blood. I was in a bit of shock, though. Calling the dentist immediately helped me calm down, and we scheduled an appointment to fix it with a filling.
The dentist told me to expect this to happen more because my teeth are getting old and to avoid chewing hard food.
I guess this means I’m also getting old. Go ahead and pass the mashed potatoes and gravy.
Ugh.
Math Struggles
I was never great at Math back in school. It feels like it’s become more complicated for kids, but with more options for solving problems with different strategies today.
I like that. Maybe I would have performed better if online sites like Khan Academy existed back then.
Or, maybe I’m forgetting how hard it was for me to focus when I was in middle school. My daughter reminded me a few days ago, and I took note of the moment to create this single-panel comic.
Math helps teach you how to think and figure things out. I’m sure she’ll appreciate it when she gets older and has to solve life problems daily.
I’ve learned pushing through boredom is also a pretty good skill to master.
School photos are perplexing
School photo day came and went, with students doing their best to look great despite the photographer’s crazy questions. These are real phrases they use to get kids to relax and smile.
Do you see a problem here?
Don’t worry. Most students get the humor and end up smiling in the end. They’re just confused about what’s going on at first. When I took my photo, they just told me to smile.
I guess they figure I could care less about banana pants.
If you enjoy my comics, you can buy Fried Chicken and Sushi comic strip collections, all about the humor and adventures I had living in Japan.

"Banana Republic Pants" would be more accurate.
